Bridging the gender gap in clinical trials

The vast majority of clinical research has historically focussed on male cohorts, leading to a significant knowledge gap in how diseases affect and are treated in women. Some staggering key figures include:

  • Sex is underreported in 31% of biomedical research

  • Women face more severe adverse effects from certain drugs due to insufficient testing

  • Only 0.5% of 89,221 oncology trials registered in the Trialtrove database include sex-specific outcomes.

Regulations are improving, but there's still a long way to go to ensure women are fully represented in medical research. Let's work together for a more inclusive future!
