TESTING MENSTRUAL BLOOD

Menstrual blood has long been dismissed as waste - even by those who menstruate. But now, this biological fluid is finally being recognised for its potential in diagnosing and treating conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, and more.

Innovative startups like Qvin and theblood are at the forefront of this transformation. Qvin has developed a smart pad that collects menstrual blood for health monitoring at home, while theblood is pioneering at-home tests that allow menstruators to measure vital biomarkers, taking proactive control over their health.

However, despite these advancements, Femtech startups continue to face significant challenges, especially in securing funding in a male-dominated venture capital landscape. Yet, the future is bright. With more research, support, and open conversations, menstrual blood could play a key role in closing the gender health gap and empowering menstruators around the world.

Having worked in product research and management at theblood, new committee member Flavia is thrilled to be part of the conversation on research and innovation in this space. Let's continue to push forward and redefine what menstrual blood can do!
